Fairy Party

Welcome to the world of mystic, fairy dust and dainty wings. Below are beautiful photo's for Roxy's 4th birthday party by Lisa creator of The Red Thread. Her daughter, like most her age, loved the idea of being a fairy for a day but after the fairy party invites were posted Roxy decided she wanted a mouse party, so they compromised and she was a fairy mouse. Lisa attached ears to her tiara, made her a tail and painted her face. The cake "had to have" mice on it too, which she handmade from icing. I think the results are superb, don't you?

Sweet Things
1. Sticky.com.au - Lollipops with the most adorable flavours. They taste better than they look.

3. The Laduree macaron - These small, round cakes, crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle, are the most famous creation of Ladurée, France but a version of these decadent bites are available from here.
4. Heart shaped sandwiches made using a cookie cutter.

above: The party was held under a marquee decorated with hand-punched butterflies from a craft shop and stapled to string, with paper streamers hanging down.
The 'fairy rug' is 2 big pieces of plastic backed fabric that Lisa sewed together and made a scalloped edge by tracing around a dinner plate and it required no hemming - easy.

3. Lisa organised for a friend's teenage daughters to be the 'big fairies' who were fantastic - they read the girls fairy stories, sprinkled fairy dust, ran the pass the parcel, musical statues, etc.
The little fairies adored them.

Stamped calico bags can be used as a favor bag by Martha Stewart.
tip: These make perfectly round impressions with a stamp. Slip a piece of card stock into the bag to prevent the ink from bleeding through fabric. Can be filled with marshmallows, pink musks, mini fairy wings etc.

Pink Lemonade

1 cup granulated sugar
2 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice, plus 4 lemons, thinly sliced crosswise, for garnish
1 1/2 cups superfine sugar
2 cups cranberry juice
Directions
Bring granulated sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a medium pan over high heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour. Add lemon juice, superfine sugar, cranberry juice, and 1 1/2 quarts water to a serving container. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate until ready to serve, up to 1 day.
To serve, add ice cubes to fill and garnish with lemon slices. by Martha Stewart.
